PRO CLASS CRUISER ... WITH A BIG DIFFERENCE !!
Steve P:
I bought the F+F about 18 months ago from matskybeat (thanks Matt) but other SE Racing projects always pushed it to the back of the pile ::)
Overall, the frame was in good condition though the chrome was shot and the rear stay was dented which was much worse than it looks in the 1st photo. I did manage to pull most of the dent but the tubing was flattened and out of shape so I opted for the more extreme repair
Surgery began by cutting out the affected tubing and a new piece was machined and fitted ... the frame was then accurately measured, aligned and prepared for welding
After many enquiries I finally found a local guy who professionally TIG welded the new tube in place. I want to ride this bike and not look at it for a change so I had to be sure of a proper job. I then detailed the welds and thought long and hard about the new finish ... hmmmmm, chrome or a fresh powder coat :-\
I really wanted to keep the original finish but the cost of new chrome was well out of my budget so I opted for a fresh powder coat and that's where superbikedan worked his magic. Dan, you're the master and thanks for turning this one around quickly mate :daumenhoch:
Del put his skills into action and produced the custom decals I wanted ... thanks again mate, you're a decal genius and the wizard for finishing touches :coolsmiley:
It's definitely not one for the Mongoose purists but I like different and love the finshed result ... polished DX pedals have been fitted since taking the photos though I really want a decent red set if anyone out there can help :)
