Lacing Z-rims
steve69:
Are ACS Z-rims laced different from other wheels?
Reason for the question is... i have two Z-rims from different locations (i.e. not a pair), and they are laced the same way but not as i've seen before. The spokes are not inter laced as normal.
Is this to help them spring back when flexed?
Please enlighten me. :-\
bigsman:
Not convinced they were 'made' that way but are you sure you've not just happened to get two wheels that have been race laced? As in no cross over for reduced weight/looks? My zeds are conventional 3 cross but then I built them so that doesn't really help!
Any pics?
MartyC:
Bigsman is probably right, Z rims were built at Heff's (where I worked) using normal 3 or 4 cross spoke patterns much like any other bike shop unless a custom build was requested like radial lacing. Chuck up some pics so we can see what you mean :daumenhoch:

This is one of them (cheers Ryan), the other one was laced the same way but i stripped it now

kuwahero:
they are laced 3 cross, however, it looks like they haven't gone under the third spoke. I would have thought it makes the wheel slightly weaker but easier to replace spokes.
