Aero Reflex Headset
starockets:
I have a problem with my headset on an aero reflex. Well the crown race to be more precise.
The headset I have bought for it is a yst beartrap type but the problem is that the fork crown race is too big.
I have temporarily shimmed it but there is still a bit of play.
Will I need a completely new headset or is there anywhere I can buy a replacement race.
Also is this a common thing or have I just bought the wrong headset for the bike.
Your help and recommendations will be much appreciated.
Bob_Acid:
Try your local bike shop for a race. I've used coke can as a shim before and rode on it for ages :daumenhoch:
starockets:
Tried a coke can which was still a bit sloppy so I "upgraded" to a bean can.
This is a bit better but I still have movement when you apply the brakes and push forwards and backwards.
I'll pop into the local shop and see what they suggest although I don't hold out much hope, they wouldn't re-thread my steel frame road bike BB because it would wear out their tap ???

All sorted....took it to On 2 Wheels in Bourne End.
He dug out a box full of old races and found and fitted one for me, all F.O.C.
I couldn't be happier and he's a great bloke as well !!!
HUTCHMAN:
You local to Bourne End ,Starockets? I'm in Henley.
