Bent Hutch cruiser forks - SORTED. Nice one Phil!!

(1/3) > >>

Weeksy:
Hi dudes,

After scouring the globe to make my Hutch cruiser complete, the forks that came with another frame and fork set I have had to buy have turned out be bent!

As they are so rare and I am unlikely to find another pair, I am now in the unfortunate position of having to try and get them straightened. In all other respects they are ok.

Can this be done?

Has anyone had this done on here?

Who even does that kind of thing?!

Any advise would be much appreciated

Thanks

Weeksy

kuwahero:
just watch he dont whack em with a hammer if he burns his hand though :LolLolLolLol:

Weeksy:
Is that the scoop then dudes?

Get some heat into them first?

I never did metalwork at school  :'(

Cheers fellas

Bigplinky:
On my Hutch 20" forks I made up a solid steel bar to go down the steerer tube (to stop it buckling) and a spacer to bolt between the drop outs (to stop twisting) and then put them in a bearing press, worked fine.

jT Racing:
no machinery glen as i'm not working at the moment. it's pretty easy to bend back forks though, it's just difficult to bend undamaged forks because they flex like feck.
