I had already tried what you suggested but the stem simply won't go in. :'(

Well I don't understand mate - it should fit :-\
Is the inside of the fork tube corroded ? Thick bits of rust etc ? Maybe try rubbing around the inside of the tube with a large round file ???
Other than that I just don't know mate, unless the fork tube is squashed :-\
Does it go in slightly and then stop a bit tight or will it not even start to go in ?
Fook knows :LolLolLolLol:

Bobafett,
Success! ;D Did what you suggested with a file and eventually it went in, so well pleased. Again, thanks for your help.

Good stuff :daumenhoch:

If its only just going in then you might want to rub a bit of lithium grease around the inside, otherwise it'll all fuse together and you'll never get the bugger out without damaging something.
