HELP! fork fitting question.

<< < (3/5) > >>

HEYWOOD BMX:
:) Do your new forks have a built-in crown race & you`ve fitted a regular crown race onto them? (I know someone who did this!)

telelogic:
I'm pretty sure that they don't.

they are budda bing forks from UK bike co.

the crown race that I've moved over from the other forks does look a bit unusual compared to the ones I've seen on tutorials about fitting headsets/forks.

I may just pull it all apart again to see if I've made any obvious rookie mistakes.

telelogic:
I've taken it apart and it would appear that it has a built in crown race.

the reason I didn't notice this is that it's such a slight incline at the bottom of the steerer tube!

I've put it back together, the tube still does not come that close to the top of the stem. still about a 4mm gap!

I think I'm going to have to annoy my local bike shop! give you guys a rest  ;)

HEYWOOD BMX:
:) How many/what size spacers are under the stem? About a 4mm gap sounds just fine to me,especially if you have just one 5mm spacer...

telelogic:
I have no spacers.
