yeah you can use gun blue and there are commercially available blacking kits ,although these are quite expensive
a metal finishers will do it but they charge a minimum of about £35

Do a search on the net for Frost...............they do gear for restoring cars and they do the chemicals needed to do this  :daumenhoch:
