reynolds 531 v cromo 4130

(1/1)

stu27:
which is the best
is it down to strength,weight
weight to strength ratio or maybe one gives a better weld when constructed
just wondering really :daumenhoch:

Munnyella:
bmx - 4130

roadie - 531

no idea why, especially as TI (makers of 531,501 and others) knocked it out just up the road from us.

I would also like to know the real reasons of for/against

Waxintaxin:
Reynolds is stronger so the walls of the tube can be thinner, but it is less springy so can crack easier

its horses for courses and I am sure there are 100s of reasons for and against and dependant on wall thickness and if its double butted etc

Gashead:
How about T45 even better  :daumenhoch:

xGoose:
Heres a pretty good run down on Reynolds tubing ;)
