How do you paint tuff wheels?

(1/5) > >>

hosburger:
I am desperate for some red tuffs ( in time for lads crimbo prezzie) and just can't find any anywhere. I was thinking of maybe getting some white ones and re-painting them red. How easy is this ? Has anyone done this and had good results.

Any info really appreciated.

Cheers

brass monkey!:
you should not paint them, better to DYE them,

have a look in the Tech and Resto threads, which gives some ideas, get some DYLON instead mate

bmx xxx:
Just buy some new tuffs on eBay,
think they are around 75quid,

Don't paint them !

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

Don't paint Tuff Wheels, there was some pratt on here that took a set of White tuff wheels and painted them White instead restoring them correctly. They sat in the for sale section for some time until he eventually had to strip them back and do the job properly.

The results are really cheap and nasty, the paint flakes and the colour underneath shows through in a matter of weeks.

As above, you could grab yourself a set of white alloy hubbed ones and dye them red or alternatively buy a new red set.

Or even better just wait a little longer until a set comes up for sale - they come up for sale on ebay every couple of months
