Look what Santa built !
hosburger:
Hi, thanks for the comments. Yep not sure who was more excited on Christnmas morning, me or my lad. Took the bike to the track yesterday. Really brought back some good memories.
As for the Tuffs. Well I couldn't get any red ones anywhere. Apparently they don't import them because something in the red dye is a bit dodgy. Anyway - I used two packets of scarlet RIT dye. This powder can be bought on ebay. It is dead easy to use and u don't need salt . Wickes sell an ideal rubble carrying bucket thing to put the wheels in , and it's only £7
I basically boiled up as much water as possible and kept filling container until deep enough. Then put the wheels in for 10mins to open up surface. Then added RIT dye and stirred continuously for 30 mins. Then rinsed with cold water.
Cheers

They'll look bonny when the little fella starts using the brakes - I don't think I've ever seen a whitewall wheel before. Maybe the red brake pad residue might hide any white that shows through, here's hoping...

I'm sure the dye soaks in deeper than just on the surface,(pending soak time ) if you used clear brake pads or red as you should ,I'd have thought there should be a problem with colour fade
Been riding my Supergoose for over a year , no brake colour fade on the re-dyed Tuffs :daumenhoch:
Incidently my Supergoose was BMX Bandits inspired also with blue Tuffs :daumenhoch:
Love any BMX Bandits replicas :smitten:
and yours is a corker ,, you lads face says it all :4_17_5:

Absolutely wicked.. top dad 8)
only thing I'd change is those tyres... if you can be bothered to spend another £20 I'd get these amber walled puppies...

It looks like you put a lot of effort into that bike. Hat's off to you.
I wish I would've gotten a present like that as a kid :)
