Old school stem size? can you get 20mm as well as 22.2?

<< < (3/4) > >>

Jon The Bassist:
Most Old School stems were 21.2mm.
In the 80s some started going to 22.2mm like on my Haro Group 1.
There could be some early stems that are less than 21.2mm ???

Just measured a SR ms-422 and it's 20.8 mm

If you need it let me know :daumenhoch:

Can't you remove the stem shaft from the POS stem that came with the bike and fit it to the SR you're trying to put on it with a bit of home-made shimming?

(calm down Diggler, I said SHImming not RI...)

How about this, you could take the dremmel to it and smooth a tad of the stem if needed and coat with grease in the frame so it didnt rust solid ... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OLD-SCHOOL-BMX-4-BOLT-HANDLEBAR-STEM-CP-GENUINE-80s-/260733887355?pt=UK_sportsleisure_cycling_bikeparts_SR&hash=item3cb4f3637b
