GavinKent:
hi all

i'll try to explain this as best i can.  i bought a mongoose crank to replace the generic one i have on my cali.  i took it apart and when i started fitting the chain wheel on to the new crank, the nut didnt do up fully - there is one washer/spacer, but it seems on this crank i'd need two of them to make up the space .  i checked the bottom bracket packet which i'd kept and there is no extra washer.  am i right in thinking it just needs another washer, and can i just purchase one of those?

hope this makes sense and would appreciate some advice

thanks in advance
gav

:) Do you have any pics and show me the part you need? I have loads of BB bits spare :daumenhoch:

Hootski70:
Are you using a genuine goose b/b , as the older goose opc's were 28tpi , normal bb 24tpi .

GavinKent:
no, afraid this isnt a goose bb - here is the pic - you'll see the space - it's like the threaded bit on the crank doesnt go down far enough to enable the nut to tighten up completely

thanks both -

Looks to me like that is the wrong nut buddy

not an old school type from all the ones ive fitted

it should have a recess on the flat side of about 1/2 cm if that makes sense to ya as thats what clears the gap

heres a pic of the type you should be useing
