blimey!!

anyway.......

Same round my way - the one recycling centre won't let me near the bikes cos the office that runs the gaff overlooks the place and it's all CCTVd up.  Also, a bike station has got an exclusive deal to take away all their bikes in a van a couple of times a week.  No real issue with that except that they chuck a lot of them away unless they are 90% complete and easily turned round for resale meaning that good frames, forks and other bits just get dumped again.  As someone else said I have spoke to the guys at the recycling place and they told me I can apply in writing for permission but I haven't bothered cos it's obviously just red tape central.  Shame cos you know you are bound to be missing out on the odd gem :(

bigsman, couldnt you go to that bike station shop direct and sort something out with them?

I think a lot of it does have something to do with Health & Safety like others have said.  :(
My bro picked up a 1984 Mongoose Californian last year in our local tip  :smitten:. It's in my "me and my bikes". He offered them some money and they said they could'nt take any, even for their tea fund  :-\. It cleaned up real nice, he uses it as a rider now.  :) Good recycling I say  :).

The local tip by me has a blind spot where i put 5 pound coins on a skip and the lads leave whatever item i have pointed at . Works for me  :daumenhoch:

For the record i have bought loads of gear from Stella and have got to say he is contributing to bmx by just saving these bikes in the first place , and it does my noodle in when people go on about ' splitting bikes ' and ' in it for the money ' ,if no one split bikes up then we would all be stuffed and as for profit , surely prices are determined by demand .

Keep up the good work Jase .
