saddle refurbing?

I've got a ratty '87 performer which im going to powder and re build , this is the original seat, is there a way of brightening it up a bit getting rid of Black spot etc? Bleach? Not bothered if its amazing as its going to be a rider,just want to use the old parts

bang it in the bleach for a few days.
put some grease or the same as it will eat your seat rails in no time.
