Pro Class Rim Strips
Retrodan72:
Right guys, i've hit a bit of a snag tonight fitting a new 'homemade' set of rim strips on my Pro Class rims. The problem being that I wanted to change my colourway ready for the Berm thrash in Blackpoll next weekl so I removed my tyres to see what the existing ones were.
I discovered that my mate that I got the bike from had used gaffer tape, so I tried the same and failed. The main problems I faced were it moving about all the time so I had to ad tabs around the rim to help it sit snug, but when I fitted the tyre/tube and pumped up, the tape edges on 2 of the holes popped through where it had moved slightly.
I could keep trying and tabbing till I get it right, but if you guys can offer a solution and/or any tips, it will save me a lot of time and stress (swearing etc).
Cheers Dan.

Just go round the inside of the rim carefully with PVC electrical tape a few times dan being careful to keep the foil ribbon central as you do. If you got the 19mm foil ribbon stuff I suggested it should be no problem at all as it's bigger than the hole by a few mm. Don't just put tabs of tape though, go right round the rim twice in one long strip overlapping the edge of the foil each side :daumenhoch:
Hope that makes sense :D
