Wheels - how do you build them?

Hi all - Im looking for some old school spoked chrome wheels and while I wait, I keep seeing lovely rims and hubs come up for sale.  So, if you buy hubs and rims, how do you get them spoked?  Im guessing this is normally a job for a bike shop?  If so, how much would it typically cost for a pair of BMX wheels?

Also, I get confused with rim sizes.  My Z Rims are 1.5 inches wide.  What is a typical size for freestyle rims?  For example, someone just sold some 1.75 (I presume inches) rims..??

Finally, other than making sure the hubs and rims have the same number of holes, is there anything else to consider when matching them??

thanks,

Paul

look in the stickies at the top of page , there's a thread on how to build wheels :daumenhoch:

My local bike shop charges £40 4 a pair of wheels built a trued inclusive of providing the spokes and nipples  ;) But I like 2 build my own  :daumenhoch: Check the thread at the top of the page in Stickies and have a go a lacing ur own  ;)

ta guys..

The "7X/Proclass wheel rim straightening kit now authorised. Fill ya boots peeps" does not seem to cover wheel building..  Maybe Im missing something??

So, typically £40 plus spokes and nipples.  How much would spokes and nipples typically cost and, would your average workshop stock these??

Its starting to sound a little exensive..

ta,

Paul
