DP GL Freestyler restoration project "Now with some tweaks"
curtispro:
Thought I would start a thread on my second build after getting back into this crazy sport after a 23 year lay off.
I got a shout from an old mate who had been looking at my pics of my Curtis build on face book, sent me a message saying he had this old BMX at his mums that he purchased in the early 90's to use to get to work and asked if I was interested in it, anyhow two crisp £20.00 notes changed hands and it was in the back of my van :coolsmiley:
This is how it arrived
Stripped it down and the chrome was just flaking off and was well past the survivor stage, so it was off to Superbikedan for some TLC and dan did what he does best and pulled of yet another fantastic job :smitten:
He also powdered the brakes and then the writing was penned in with oil based paint
The wheels that came on the bike are unknown 48 spokes so as I am trying to build this in a budget :LolLolLolLol: I stripped the back, gave them the oven pride treatment, did my first wheel build and will use them until the right pair comes along
I have been informed that these were laced up wrong ( wouldn't be able to get a pump on it) so they have been re laced again, and I have got it right now :LolLolLolLol:
Brake cables through the frame and a few bits slapped on and this is her so far
Not sure about the White seat, I will either dye it red or change the grips to white, may even oven pride the rental post to match the bars, still undecided.
