Stripping Anodised parts back to raw alloy

oven pride is fooking ace - got the manky black (brown) ano off my mx copy calipers a treat and also fetched the faded red ano off the renthal that's stuck in my silverfox frame at MK. before anyone moans the calipers were well rough and there was no way on earth that post was coming out - watching various people try at MK was like watching people from the king arthur story try and pull the sword from the stone  ;D

just don't use porous 'freezer gloves' like spen did or you'll have burning fingers for ages

I have stripped loads of parts and I have never got on with Oven Pride, just to fooking messy.  I just use caustic soda, if you use caustic remember 1) do not breath in the fumes 2) do not use hot water 3) have some clean water close at hand so that when you have dipped the part enough in the caustic, put it straight in the clean water.

Crackin advice - works better than the old O.P. as well - also on a side note, O.P. can shag up the aluminium for re-annodising if you're getting that done, Caustic doesn't  :daumenhoch:

Gatters:
If you do use OP don't over do it like I have done, as it will attack the alloy and leave you with a pitted mess! once the anno has gone clean it off, don't leave it!!! but it's great stuff for small items. For small stuff just apply with a rubber glove and watch it fade away rather than use the bag.
