Hi all - last minute panic building ready for this Saturday's ride!!
How the flip to I get the housing nut off the crank arm? Im trying to swap the chainwheel but I cant get the nut off (the thing with 3 notches in it). I'll take it along to Halfords tomorrow night as I hoping there is special tool with 3 notches in it??
I tried to hold it in a vice but no joy..
Special tool??
ta,
Paul

it needs 2 special tools to remove it. hammer and chisel.
theRuler:
Or a hammer / screwdriver - or a flat bar, old seatpost, anything. Couple of thwacks and it'll it fly off (your finger, I mean)
punkdSICO:
Cool - ill give that a go before popping to Halfords.
btw, it does screw the normal way on the chainring side?? eg, anti-clockwise to remove?? (obviously reversing that if attacking from the back as show in the photo).
ta,
Paul

Yep, there's a spanner that fits. Are there no OSers near you that might have one ???
I think looking at the back of the sprocket, it comes off anti-clockwise.
