FRAMESAVERS??

might sound like stupid question,but what exactly are these?i presume they are some sort of washer which spreads the load of the axle nut which mounts the wheel?are they generally used in builds?i have a brand new frame and want to preserve the dropouts as much as i can as i intend to ride the bike.does anyone have any pics?also,is there any way of mounting the wheels which is sympathetic to dropouts and prevents damage?any help appreciated Damian

Think the above ones are a bit specific to oversize dropouts.

The ones I know of are these http://www.helixbmx.net/dropouts.htm They basically just put a buffer between yer nuts and washers and the frame, can also be used to cover up nasty old butchered drop outs too. Unfortunately you can't use tensioners with them, so for riding they can be a bit naff.
