McQUEEN:
First bmx I saw was a team murray one of the guys at school had for Christmas 1979, maybe 1980. Orange and black, loved it. The second was from a rich kid at school whose dad worked in America part time and kept coming back with new parts for his nickel mongoose - one part was a set of z rims and all the guys at school couldn't believe you could have a wheel that could bend?!! It was the first taste of urban fantasy I'd experienced!!

The first bmx action I saw was outside a chip shop in Becontree Essex. I was in the front passenger seat of my dads car and I watched this guy pull an endo against the chip shop window into a roll back 180. Blew me away.............I occasionally drive past and every time I do I still think of that moment.

First BMX i saw was a Mongoose moto mag. I'd say it was the late 70's in a wee DIY come bike shop in Annan owned by a guy called Davy mckinna. I had i Grifter at the time and my Dad wouldn't let me have a BMX for Christmas as they only had one gear. After getting a boring racing bike from santa that year having traded in the grifter, the following year i wore my Dad down and traded in the five speed for a Huffy Pro 4. Fook i was over the moon. Blue and yellow, weighed a ton.  8)

Everyone had Grifters or Choppers...

There was a Puch Motorbike shop on the Beersbridge Road that me and my mate Glen Molloy called into on the way home from school...

They were promoting 'BMX' bikes...

'What the hell are they' we said...

We went in and had a look...

I took the Brochure home and showed my Gran it...

Christmas came and with it a Brand New Trak Pro...

Molloy wanted one , but had to wait a year until he got a California from Dave Kane's Bike Shop...So he was made up...

A couple of years later I traded for an Aero Pro and Glen traded for a Pro Class...

We entered every race we could on them bikes...
