question about dk stems

 can someone tell me if there is a way to date  dk shafted stems . i see a lot for sale and am tempted to get one as tuf necks are getting really hard to track down .to be honest though I aren't convinced of the vintage in most cases :-\ i just don't know. am i right in thinking that proper old school ones have squared tops , bottoms and backs . does anyone know the dates when they started rounding off the corners .
 there is one for sale at the moment  on the site. it has a flat top and bottom  but a rounded back , what year would that one be from . More than a little confused ,thanks,  phil
