SUNTOUR PEDAL SPINDLE SWAP

i got a set of 1/2" xc's that i need to change the spindles to 9/16"
anybody tried to swap em with the cheaper copy type bear trap pedals.
let me know gents.
my bike is lookin sorry for itself with wonky pedals on it  ;D
