ZERONINE HELMET RESTORATION

southern andy:
Finally finished after what feels like forever. I didn't know whether to start this topic here or in chat so it may be in the wrong place.

I have to thank Phil Sawzall and Firebird Steve for their massive help in this..... cheers guys  :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5: :4_17_5:

It started off last year with picking up a POS helmet that was multi coloured. I sanded down to smooth to the best i could then pretty much abandoned the project for a while. After i got back on it i gave the helmet to Phil so he could take to work to respray for me and in the mean time i got on with talking to Steve about getting some stickers done.

All i had was one little picture to work from on Rainers web site so i sent that to Steve and as much other info as possible, we had no full pictures of the helmet to help us, basically just the right side.

Whilst Steve was doing that i won a original Zeronine peak on ebay for about £2.50, i knew the seller as that was whom i bought the frameset from ages ago. I also proceeded to buy a Black Haro mouthguard as black JT ones are impossible to find.

Steve sent me a scan of the stickers for me to agree on and as far as i could see they were pretty perfect from the small info we had, by this time the helmet was back with me after Phil had gone beyond the boundary and had replaced all the rivets, studs and poppers on it. Debbie his wife had also done some work to the foam inside and a new bottom strip was clipped in to place around the bottom of helmet.

Incredibly a black JT mouthtrap came up for sale on here a month back but it had no straps to it as they'd been cut off, i thought for £3 it was worth buying as i had a yellow one here with straps. The intention was to replace the straps from the yellow to black so over to Phils to look at it and bang job done.  :smitten:

Fast forward a little while and i got a text from Steve to say they were finished and should be with me the next day.

So here's the finished job as after i put off fitting the rear one due to the curve yesterday i decided to grim and bear it today and to say i was nervous was an understatement, thankfully i done it slowly and in small pieces which again wasn't easy due to it being one whole sticker.

Many thanks again to Phil, Steve and Debbie.  :coolsmiley: :coolsmiley:

Enjoy.......
