4 inches give or take, taking into account knobblyness of tyres, tyre pressure, n sole thickness  :LolLolLolLol:

you can drown in 4 inches of water so an extra 4 inches of downward velocity is gonna fook you up big style, stick with 20s dude, its lovely down here :LolLolLolLol:

Try this table out based on some different gear ratios, the 39 / 17 one in the middle looks like the most optimal but it will depend on your choice of tire as well as this also plays a part in gear ratio's. Looking at this chart though your 36 / 16 might be a bit shorter than youre after.

SHORTER (EASIER)
36 / 16 - 2.25 (54)
34 / 15 - 2.26 (54.4)
41 / 18 - 2.28 (54.6)
39 / 17 - 2.29 (55.06)
30 / 13 - 2.30 (55.38)
37 / 16 - 2.31 (55.5)
40 / 17 - 2.35 (56.47)
TALLER (HARDER)

Jon The Bassist:
Gregster, slap a 39 tooth on the front, get the tyres pumped up to a good pressure, get the bars to an angle and height to suit you and all will be fine. A 39:17 will not feel too high for riding on the roads and paths, and will be fine for track use :daumenhoch:
