mattbloke:
right, i have bought some caustic soda crystals to get rid of the last bits of seat post in my KZ1. does anyone know what sort of strength i need to mix it up to? also will it tarnish chrome if i spill it? thanks in advance guys  :daumenhoch:

jT Racing:
fooking strong and no it won't

mattbloke:
thanks for the reply, i was more after a ratio of water to crystals, no idea what ratio produces fookin strong ;)

Rodgy1970:
You wont need very much to fill a seat post maybe 150-250ml, fill it first to see the amount, put the powder into the water, as your mixing it up industrial strength do it outside, were gloves and a mask wouldn't be a bad idea too.   :daumenhoch:

I don't think you can mix it too strong as it will not melt steel.

jT Racing:
well you want it to dissolve the aluminium, so add the crystals to water, not the other way round, if it doesnt start fizzing when you add a bit, it's not strong enough. do it outside, the fumes are killer.use goggles and chemical gloves too, it's lethal and will blind you, choke you burn and scar you in an instant. keep some vinegar handy for any accidents. :daumenhoch:
it's not explosive, just respect the caustic and you won't have an issue, keep it out of reach of pets/kids.
