threads on forks can they be retaped

In short yes or you can cut the top of a cheap set and have them welded on if its for a show bike  :daumenhoch:

Or take them to an established bike shop and have re-tap the thread and see what they are like after; you can fill weld the worn threads and re-tap them too with no risky side effects  ;)
