Old school gear ratio advice

When I raced bitd I used 43/16 as previously mentioned by others.

Thanks nickswan1. I am a bit closer to understanding gear ratios now with all the advice and the chart. I will try out some freewheels and chainrings and let you know how a get on :daumenhoch:
I have just had another look at my set up and it seems I am running 42/16 :-\
Think I will try out 45/16 and 42/14 to see what the difference feels like. 14 tooth freewheels arn't too expensive anyway :daumenhoch:

Dude, if you're pedalling too easily and going nowhere put a 45 tooth sprocket on the front.

A lot of companies are making the 14T freewheel to fit on most hubs from old school BMX inclusive of the Tuff wheels buddy :daumenhoch:

I run a 40T - 14T cassette rear on my Torker and find it bang on. Good for accelerating but good mid range too. For long distance pushing power though, you will need the 43T up front and Arnies legs :D
