rakas17:
I fancied doing a build that wasn't run of the mill so heres what i've been playin with for the last few months..

got it off ebay, no wheels , no seat , only 1 shock and everything else rusty as fook..

so i gave all the chrome bits to my mate to strip polish and rechrome, he also dipped the painted parts in acid for me to kill off any rust..
the frame was really badly pitted so i used topstop body filler in places then sprayed it with high build 2pac primer, followed with the orange paint then 2pac lacquer..

as it didn't have any wheels i wanted something as fat as possible so it looked like a motorbike, after some research i discovered that trials bmx's have 19x2.70 rear tyres on a 19 inch rim....
I got hold of some sturmey archer drum brake hubs and painted my 19 inch rear rim and an araya aero black then sent them off to custom riders to get laced up..  I was gonna try it myself but it proved too much hassle to get spokes the right length due to random rim sizes and high flange hubs...
the shocks are monkey bike shocks from ebay, same lengh just a bit fatter..

the seat was quite a challenge as i had to completely make up something from scratch. I made a seat to the correct shape and size of my design out of chemiwood which is a material we use at my work, then i vac formed it and laid fibreglass weave inside my vacform  mould. slapped on a bit of foam and took it to a coach trimming place to get leathered up..
the mudguards are black plastic so i just gave them a light dusting of satin black and they looked brand new again..

chemiwood vacform buck..

under the seat showing the fibreglass weave, looks a bit like carbon fibre (pretty cool)

finished seat...

found this stand in halfords, made a block so it fitted and reached the ground at the right height cos its made for 24 and 26 inch bikes. now it sits on its stand like a motorbike, perfect for this ride i thought.

for the finishing touch i wanted one of those revving grips like we had bitd.. managed to get hold of one and gave it a refurb with new springs and stuff, it looks a bit weird but sounds amazing so it redeems itself when you blip the throttle..

I still need pedals but i was bored today so i thought i make this thread today, i know you lot aren't really into this stuff, my last project was my gen1 haro and this time i wanted something i could really make my own. cheers, joe
any feedback appreciated, cheers for looking :)
