Frame tubing Renolds 531 question

Most british built bikes were made with Renolds 531 or 530 tubing or Curtis used aircraft tubing . But what did the Yanks use 2 make theres ? Did they use renolds tubing ? I cannot c how, why would they ship our TI made tubing over the pond it wouldn't b cost effective surely ?

They did ship initially.
The 1979 rampar R11 & R11 XL were manufactured by Raleigh in the far east using British tubing for the American & Australian market.
Only initially though, later runs of bikes 3 year run were just chromoly instead of 531

Wasnt it 4130 chromolybdenum or crmo?
Reynolds cheaper 501 might have been thrown into the equation, but, as I remember when I worked for Raleigh, 501 was similar to cromo.
