Its all gone
SaMAlex:
I have a few "old bikes". They are pretty much useless to ride (cos new bikes are way better) but they are ridable and a long way of Mint show bikes. They mainly just sit in the shed, taking up room and not doing much. Every now and again, when Im in there (usually getting my "real" bike to go riding) I look at them and go ........ "hmmmmm. I like those". I imagine its the same as if I had a nice painting. I like them, so I keep them.
Having said that, I know I wont keep them forever and Im sure I'll feel a bit sense of relief when i DONT own a load of bikes I dont ever ride.

I have a good few bikes in my "collection" and none of them get ridden (I have a 2012 T1 that I use for that). Thing is, to me the bikes in my collection are just like paintings. I look at my Holmes and it reminds me of the good times I had back in 94/95/96 on a bike exactly like that one. In the same way my Bennett reminds me of the first dirt comp I ever won, the first barspin I ever did, etc, etc. I could go on about each one of the bikes I have because each one has been "collected" of a specific reason. I dont need to ride them to enjoy them because I already rode the hell out of them over the last 20+ years. Now what they are just momentos of all the years of good times BMX has brought me. Do I want more? yes. Will I keep them all forever? No. but there are definitely one or two I will never part with.
I dont believe in collecting just to own things that are rare or valuable, but I also dont believe that nothing should be owned unless its used for its intended purpose. Whats most important is that whatever you own you enjoy, and if you dont then buy all means get rid of it so that someone else can. :daumenhoch:
