Elegant solutions to a bashy problem.
ED209:
I'm just looking at fixing a WAL Bashguard to my 2hip Big Boy frame...
the front is straight forward ... drill through the down tube and bolt on ( MidschoolJon has already advised getting a metal tube down through the drill hole to stop the downtube getting squashed when its tightened :daumenhoch: )
the rear is a bit trickier as the bashy braket doesn't match the chain stay brace to drill through ... I was thinking 'a bracket' above the chain stay to bolt onto... but does anyone have a better idea...
I have been invited to the 'MunnyLab' to do some drillin'n'shit 8) I'm not letting Keith anywhere near this project.
( I know that TTIUWP but its early and I can't find the camera without waking people up :) - pics to follow )
Munnyella:
There are many ideas in my mainly unused mind.
What size bolt hole in the down tube fixing end?
I have some threaded inserts which may do a job...
We could knock up an ally clamp to go around the stay brace and pick up the fixing where needed, brushed finish, very mid!!
Lets see the pics.

I would go down the route of the old gt bolt on bashguard. You could easily get a couple of plates machined up to fit round the chainstays
Munnyella:
Are you prepared to drill the frame?
If so, I'd drill the frame where it would be if it were a WAL Riot and modify the bash guard, cut off the legs where they join the rails and re fix a bit further up. Its the proper way to do it.
If you dont want tho drill, the we can make up a couple of clamping plates, but it'll look gay.
Lets get this biatch sorted, I know welders!!
