Re-threading Forks

Hello,

Does anyone know a machine shop in or near London that can re-thread 1" forks?

I have two pairs that need attention.

This is the last set I bought:

if they are valuable forks then cut off all the thread and then weld on new thread from some other cheap forks, thats what i did with good success...    :daumenhoch:

You can buy a die nut and clean the threads up yourself.

It all depends where the damage is in relation to the headset/locknut as to if you can get away with it.
I have assembled frame,forks and headset and worked out if the damaged area of threads sits in the same area as where the headset top cap and locknut locates

It doesn't look like there is sufficient metal left there to cut thread....

Maybe fill the gap with weld, and then have a go with the die in the link above.  :daumenhoch:

Thanks for the link, but man are they expensive  :'(

If only I could find a local bike shop or machine shop. I think they will need building up with steel epoxy or a dab of weld first. These are just 16" Peugeot forks, but the other set I have are Tange ARX, so I'd like a fix for both really.
