Wet or dry is your best bet if doing it yourself. Going throught the grades and then polish but you need to be super careful you dont go throught the chrome or it will look a brassy colour.

Which is why I would prefer an expert to do it!  :-[

Ive asked the David Blaine of metalwork (Phil) so Ill see what he says...
