What he said - just check it first thing - give it a bit of a light going over with an old toothbrush on any stubborn bits of rust :)

Prefer citric acid meself, as sometimes with OA I've noticed a bit of chrome 'bruising' - where some areas of the chrome have a slightly brown/blue tinge to it, but that was on chrome that didn't look like it had been plated well to start off with.

Its just done 8 hrs and gave it a good wash and clean - its done well but hasn't fully cleared the hardcore bits - now its going in for another 8 hrs then I will give it some fine wire wool and WD40 rubbin lovin  :smitten:

as dw says if the chrome is not good you will get discoloring but it does polish off , think it reacts with the nickle under the chrome?  ,     usually get a bit round the weld area's, where the chrome is thin   where most of the rust your trying to shift will be  :tickedoff: :LolLolLolLol:   typical.

 keep checking it Ed is best advise,     it will go pretty quick in the final stages once all the more  severe rust is gone ,  if it comes out like tin foil,  (LLP karma points awarded  ;D  ) you left it in too long  :LolLolLolLol:

don't forget to wash it out after,  dry it well then oil the tubes inside


ED use stainless steel pan scrubbers the twisted swarf ones to rub it down with oil, fine wire wool will stick under the chrome n go rusty again  :-[
