Shoreham-by-Sea BMX Track and Gammans bike shop

(1/2) > >>

Gnarlyscoots:
Took a trip today over to Shoreham with my brother and my GT for a little trip down memory lane. The track is totally unrecognisable from back then  :(

It looks like they have just chucked a load of dirt here and there to cover up all the stones that were the nasty thing about the track. Those that rode here too can vouch for that I guess  ;D

Here's some more shots of some of the track from different views.

Newspaper article found at local Library

Now, Gammans bike shop. Come out of the station, turn right over the railway lines then right into Gorden Road.

This is how it looked in the early 80's

and now, today

It was demolished in 1994 to give way to the houses you see and he moved round the corner. That has since been replaced by a childrens toy and clothes shop.

Some news on keeping the track alive in 2000.

And if you want to buy my GT, it now comes with authentic 80's BMX track dirt added  :LolLolLolLol:

stuntmaster:
Never knew where the old track was but do now as I know those new blocks of flats also dirtyvans cleared most of the bmx stuff from gammons years ago now ie when stuff was cheap

Devilock:
Nostalgic day out.

It looks more like single track riding now...

How many kids did you lure...?!!

retrogeezer:
A couple of my bikes came from Gammans I think, my 2 Nishiki's and the Nos Rickman Expert I have.
