Sending a complete bike.......

(1/1)

bigfatolly:
Guys, what would be the best way to send a complete bike?

I am thinking loosen the stem, twist the bars, pedals off and box the fooker up :daumenhoch:

Or try and split a bit more?

And what is a rough cost for a courier?

neil:
I leave the stem but take the bars off and tape them to the frame :daumenhoch:
Recently sent a cruiser with p4d think it was £22

Your way of packing sounds fine. I got my DK sent to me with city link, it was under £20 and insured for its value.

The one thing you must do is insure it, theres so much stuff going missing lately.

skki3330:
If you can get it quite tightly packed have a look at my hermes  :daumenhoch: they do have a size limit so use there calculator. Nice and cheap spec if you need to up the insurance, only downside they take 5 days to deliever. Never had a problem with them. Can also save a bit more money and time waiting for them to pick up if you have a drop shop near ya.

Sent a 20" haro mini this week.

got a bike box from lbs, front wheel off, stem/bars off, pedals off, drop in the box, pad out and tie the loose bits up, trim box tight to bike size.

cost £12.90 insured for the £80 sale price, Parcel2go, yodel 48hr, take pics of packaging during and after wrapping though, helps if it goes tits up!!
