pro(no)class conversion and my first ever wheel build :) (pic heavy!)
mattbloke:
So, i finished my Rickman freestyler, but kept looking at the wheels. i know i built it to ride but there was no getting away from it. they looked shit.
so rather than spending loads of dosh buying some, i decided to build/modify what i already had. first up i measured up my existing scabby 7x rims for the pro class conversion.
then got out my auto centre-punch (much easier and quicker than a punch and hammer) to mark the centre points
then time for some pilot holes with a 4mm drill bit.
then through again with a 9mm drill bit
then a stepped cone cutter to finish the holes and remove the sharp edges from the drill bit.
next i removed the rattle can black finish
and then shine-sided the edges, removing the old marks and scuffed anno
time to start the build! Halo stainless spokes, araya gold anno nipples and JOY sealed bearing hi flange hubs.
few stages from the lacing
bit of blinging gold rim foil, and tada!!
a MASSIVE shout to Stidds for both the spoke calculator AND the wheel building sticky. very easy to follow, and the bloody things are even round and true!! :daumenhoch:
