In all seriousness it looks like the same sort of reaction you get with citric acid on rust. Lets just hope youre not rotting your seat rails in the process :LolLolLolLol:

Just wiki'd it and it should be fine with the steel/chrome. This thread reminds me, i got some industrial powdered dye a while back and was going to see if i could dye non nylon stuff with it
