Bearing cup removal

Possible dumbass question guys.....whats the best way to remove the bearing cups from the headset and BB?

Protect the cups and hit with a hammer or what?

Tap from inside using a large socket extension bar. Couple of taps going round and it will pop out  :daumenhoch:
