Is it possible to fade anno

Yes Danny they are the same as I have but in the flesh they are more orange than a yellow gold.

I did it with a caliper once to try and match another and it did fade a bit. Whether it was because it was old I don't know, could even be the salt itself attacking the alloy :-\

I'd water it down in a tub to a weaker solution, otherwise Oven Pride will froth and leave an uneven finish.
I was successful in toning down a gold SR seat post in this way using a coke bottle and a very weak custic solution but that was a much easier item to whip out and wipe every few min's to check progress.

I think you've answered your own statement.
Paint stripper will struggle to move it..... coz it's NOT paint, it's anno :uglystupid2:
