Rather embarrassingly my son wanted a bike for Uni and I was all set to buy jon the bassist cruiser when he said he no longer wanted one. Well a week later he changes his friggin mind and wants a bike!

So checked out eBay and found this 5 minutes from my house. Picked it up for £30. It needed some brakes and a good clean but all in all pretty cool little Hoffman POS for uni. I raided the parts bin for bits so cost nowt to fix up.

Instead of a crappy off the shelf bike lock go to a hardware shop and buy a 1-1.5m length of chain, I think B&Q do chains in lengths.  Put the chain inside an old inner tube with a few zip ties on it and a decent padlock.

Oh and buy some insulation tape and some rattle cans as he'll probably want to make it more student stylee.

I thought about putting a grey front tuff on it but thought it might make it more attractive to theives
