Any tips on getting DX end caps out without wrecking them?

Update
So far I have achieved a 50% success rate :slayer:
None of the forks in the cutlery drawer were wide enough, but the big 2 prong barbecue fork was spot on with no need for modifications :daumenhoch:
Got one cap out, the other is stuck fast (am guessing due to pedal scuffing, but surprised as they're not in bad nick)
Unfortunately the 'holes' in the cap have suffered some slight damage, nothing too ugly but now I've got nothing to push against ::)
Think I'm going to wait & get a second opinion, rather than risk completely wrecking it and having to try and find another..

I can't be arsed right now, everything is packed away & my phone has died
But just imagine one pedal with the cap successfully removed and the other with it still stuck in :teef:
