The lunchbreak stem project (finito pics 21st)

(1/22) > >>

oldschoolace:
This year has carried on where last left off with work and i have hardly any time to blow my nose let alone do anything bmx related.
As an antidote i have decided to give myself a little lunchbreak project to break up the day.
The wood neck bike rack was fun so another stem project seems to be the order of the day. With this in mind the first thing to do is find a donor stem shaft.
I have used those cheap suntour copy stems, off the bay, with great success in the past but with the supply of them drying up Bert was kind enough to send me one for nowt ( thanks again Bert  :daumenhoch: )

First up is carefully cutting a slot in the back of the stem just shy of going through to the shaft then prying the slot open to release the shaft  :)

Next i ordered some 6082 aluminium off the bay, These two pieces are 2 inch wide, 3/4 inch thick and were cut to 100mm long.
They cost around £8 for both  :daumenhoch:

Will keep updating this thread as the stem comes on but thats it for the first lunchbreak  :LolLolLolLol:
