buckled wheel

(1/2) > >>

dannyboy:
can you straighten a wheel if so how cheers :Great_Britain: :Great_Britain:

oberonspacefruit:
adjusting the spokes with a spoke key can sort it if its not too bad. its a bit tricky though.

duncan:
Is this the bike you just bought? I feel bad now for encouraging you :)

Only joking, you should be able to fix it as long as the rim isn't actually damaged, tricky though as mentioned above.

Have a read of the many wheel truing webpages, such as these:
http://www.kenkifer.com/bikepages/skills/spokes.htm
http://www.parktool.com/repair/readhowto.asp?id=81

I've only fixed mountainbike wheels myself, though I imagine it's much the same for BMX.
Go slowly, remembering how much you've tightened/loosened the spokes.
A bike shop will also do it, charge will depend on the time required - might be cheaper than you think, worth asking if you're worried about damaging them.

lazychubs:
was it the wheel with the db bars
as you will need to despoke it
then straighten the rim with pressure then respoke it

stoke bloke:
as obi wan space cadet just said , tricky but possible if the buckle isn't too bad.on the other hand  if it is got a ding, flat spot or is egg shaped then it is time for a new wheel rim.
