1984 RALEIGH RACING R5500FS - PICTURE HEAVY
stef232:
OK chaps I picked this frame up from the states a few months ago, its a 1984 Raleigh Racing R5500FS.
Made by Raleigh USA.
A big thanks to Glynnboy for the initial advise on the F&F.
This isn't a spec build and not to ever ones taste but I hope you agree it still look OK.
I managed to source some top quality Decals from Del & the same goes for the Pad set from Steve at Esemdesign the other parts I had lying around ready for a Kuwahara build I was doing.
The original chrome was in great shape so I just had to remove the old tatty Decals and polish.
Sorry about the saggy Izumi chain I just threw this on to finish up and take the pictures.

Nice job.
I always liked the look of these frames - even those curious rear dropouts.
You must be chuffed with how it has turned out!!! :daumenhoch:
Glynnyboy:
I like how the blue looks on that Stef.
Nice colour flow.
Get that chain, cables & that valve sorted ffs.( the tell tale signs that you were giddy as a loon putting it together and couldn't wait to take some pics) :-)
I hope you make it to mk14, I would love to see this & that survivor 83 R6000 of yours. :coolsmiley:
stef232:
Your right I'm embarrassed about that chain.
I got an hour today without any rain and just started flingin parts at the thing.
I don't know why I even add chains TBH as they won't ever be ridden.
:daumenhoch:
Gizmo:
Think the chains fine if you put a 6 speed derailleur on it :LolLolLolLol:
Nice bike btw :4_17_5:
