It was 30 years ago today - 1984 Falcon pro Kappa
dancetothedrummersbeat:
Exactly 30 years ago today, I was bought my one and only BMX from bitd. My Dad bought me a Falcon Pro Kappa for my 7th birthday. It was bought from CMA Cycles in St Helens for £99.99. After 4 years of searching, I found a 99% complete one on ebay last year for £110. It was in great survivor condition, with just a few missing/incorrect parts.
Here's the original spec from the Falcon Pro brochure.
How it arrived:
The frame, forks, bars, stem and chain guard went off to Superbike Dan for powdering. Thanks Dan!
The Pads are original but the writing had faded, so I carefully went over the writing using blue acrylic paint. The Rims, hubs, pedals, tyres, chain, freewheel and seat are new. Everything else is in it's original condition, or has been refurbished. Repro decals from Del, scanned from my originals.
The finished bike:
Just a few minutes after getting my new bike home. Me, aged 6 April 1984, a month before my 7th birthday. I got the bike early so as to get more use out of it.
I contacted the new owner of my old house a few weeks ago, and she agreed to let me use her back garden to re-create the picture, so here I am this afternoon, exactly 30 years on.
Dark Diggler:
That is awesome.

What a lovely build. Your bike looks fantastic. Very similar tale to mine too. 30 years ago next month i got my first bmx and first non-hand-me-down bike, a yellow and blue puch.
I dropped on a survivor a bit back which is soon to be stripped and cleaned (not to the standards of your falcon pro) in readiness for the brief but strong episode of sentimentality which i feel is approaching. And rightly bleeding so. 30 bastard years these little bikes have had hold of me, and it's still great.
Well done Andy. :radbmxsmilie:
