Dating beartrap headsets.......
Bfellows:
I'm sure there was a thread that pointed out the differences between the various incarnations of beartrap headsets - anyone have a link? If I've imagined it (which is quite likely) what are the differences?

79 - 81 Come in a Grey box, Tange motocross Japan top nut engraved, underneath nut is a rubber o-ring, copper coloured races with 18 balls per race, thick gold lock washer, these are lush if you can find one :smitten: I have one on the fatgoose and one spare. (like rocking horse poo poo's)
82 - 89 Come in a Grey box, Tioga japan top nut engraved, underneath nut is a rubber o -ring, normal coloured races , less balls, thick chrome lock washer, these are nice.
The modern ones come in a black box blue writing, tioga top nut printed writing, no rubber washer underneath nut, normal races, thinner lock washer, different pitch teeth on washer and adjuster to early ones, not so nice chrome, these are Taiwan made I think, don't like em much to be honest.
