DK dates

The one piece seat post clamps were around the same time as the first square corner stems, the very first stems had the racers names engraved on them instead of DK ,wild bill was one , can't remember Nikki's version instead of DK (Dad and Kids)
the 2 piece clamp was around 83/84 I think.
I've had a NOS gen 1 seat clamp but what I didn't like about it was ,  it was thin and left most of the key way slot exposed and they are common for cracking
The first early stems had a key way locking the quill into the bottom of the stem and finer knurling.
All had alloy wedges, make sure you have the correct wedge for the stem, i've had 4 DK stems and the angles of the quills were all slightly different for each stem, they appear to have made the quill match the wedge for each stem as they made them.

Great info buddy, thank you  ;)

I have a mint first gen clamp and first gen stem. I also have a chrome set post with a DK decal on it but, you know how seat posts go and decals  ;D  It could be anything but the owner said it was genuine.

I think we should be given the parts timeline to work on, what do you think?

I have some ideas on how to lay it out for easy usage  :daumenhoch:

A timeline would be a great project. i'm happy to work on one when I have time but it would be a slow burner

The seat post would be around 84-85 mark, i've had an OG DK seat post
If I remember it has NO markings, black/chrome decal and around 11 1/2  inches in length, It having no markings makes you wonder if it is original or not.
early square stems were polished or anodised, red and gold anno ones are the hardest to get, after about 83 they powder coated the square stem, in about 87 when the rounded back and curved top version came out they went back to anodising them and purple was available
Let me have a look at a pic of the seat post, the chrome was nice on them :daumenhoch:

I was immersed in BMX like everyone else here from 82-86 and I am foooked if I remember dk at all. I bought a dk stem a few years ago for my PR and remember thinking 'nice looking stem....but who the fook are dk?' it didn't feel right putting a part I had never heard of on the bike.....
