Just like tuf necks, esp stems, SE racing anything, bullseye, unless it has known provenance you may as well assume they are all fake.

Exactly  ;)

All these companys did'nt give a fu ck about old school bmx when the scene went tits up Years ago. They all got out real quick and jumped on the next money making band wagon.

Now they can sell a few old school bmx parts again and add more $ dollars to the bottom line they are all at it. Every single company that did'nt care now see $ dollar signs yet again.

Haro, Profile, Tioga, Tange, A'me, Oakley, Hutch, Skyway the list goes on.

Its not like there is'nt enough old school stuff still out there anyways. Its just that some people would rather spend £20 on a sh it repo Dia Compe Seat Clamp instead of Hunting out and spending £50 on a real NOS One.

Sorry but im a purist, if it aint old school then its not an old school Part or build.

Pads and stickers are fair enough but as for the rest its just a load of

Jap Crap ;)

When i got into old school bmx there was'nt all this Jap Crap stuff around. If you wanted a part you hunted it out and you paid for it which was the Exciting part of the scene and made it all the more exciting and part of the Hunt.

Now its just go on Porkchop and order the crap look alike parts and fool yourself into buying Jap Crap which kinda looks like the real thing but is'nt the real thing. Because people can't be arsed to Hunt Out the real thing and pay a few Quid more.

Like i said it has hurt the scene whichever way you look at it and i know for a fact its the reason why "alot" of people have Sold Out and Moved onto collecting other things.

Is this right or wrong i dont care its how i feel about the repo Jap Crap and what it has done to the Old School BMX Scene.

Just my Opinion  ;)

Monk_Wally_Honk:
If more people got into collecting and these new parts didn't exist, there'd be no parts left for you.

Retrodan72:
I have no interest in waiting forever for a part, and paying top dollar for it when it arrives.

Stuff like this suits my riders just fine.  :daumenhoch:

Surely getting out of something when there's no market to sell to is good business isn't it?  and tapping back into a market and trading on your previous good name is good business isn't it? (as long as the new parts are of good standard and quality)

Tell us exactly what these parts are doing to the Old School Scene then?  as already stated, they don't seem to be having any effect on original parts prices and in some cases the new parts are commanding high prices on their own? (Oakley grips and new Vector bars for example).  Yes you might get the odd w@nker who buys a reproduction part and does all he can to try and make it look original so he can make a quick buck or ten, but hopefully those people get found out very quickly by keen eyed people on forums like ours.

What's your take on what these parts are doing to our hobby?

The only way i see it is, they allow people who ride their old bikes to have look-a-like parts that they don't mind trashing or getting scratched up while cruising about on their bike for a fraction of the cost.  I have a new reproduction MX1000 on my 2015 loopy Ripper as i didn't want to waste £80 on an old one when all the other parts on the bike are brand new, so it fits in with my build.

I completely understand however that they might not be what you want on your bikes, for either riding or for display purposes but i don't see them having any detrimental effect on value of the original parts.

oldschoolace:
I can see the arguement for both sides but personally it comes down to a perishable thing, grips, tyres and brake pads are, by there very nature, designed to be expendable and generally do not keep well over time. It's all about the riding for me and I ain't spending 200 notes on some tyres I will trash on one Rad ride because the rubber is 30 years old
